Time For A Change?

Time For A Change?

Has you can see I have changed to look of our blog! I think the design has a clean look to it, but all the content is still there. sometime change is a good thing, Line dancing has changed over the years and the way we can assess the information about line dancing has changed, we can now look at You Tube, Goggle a dance script, look on dedicated blogs like this one.
The dances themselves have change, more pop music is set to line dancing, and some of it is Ok and if line dancing is to survive we need young people to get involved, and if they like pop music they might like some of the more country tracks as well. So if you can give me so feedback on the new colours or if you have any suggestion   Please let me know either by Facebook @ Country Roots Line Dance Club or email countryrootslinedance@gmail.com.

Welcome to another Country Roots Blog

Welcome to another Country Roots Blog

Hello and welcome to another post on our Line Dance Blog, we have a lot to get through. First I would like you all to meet the Beginners Class and they are learning  really well. so please see the picture below this picture was taken a few weeks ago we have 5 more beginners now than when the photo was taken.

I was having a discussion a little while ago and it was about the future of line dancing the other person thought it was dead and there wasn't anyone intrested in line dancing, but if we look at the success of Margaret's class this show that is not true. people live to dance some are better than others but dancing is apart of all of us, it's one way  we express  ourselves. In our beginners class we have all ages from teenagers to senior citizen. which is great, as I have said before any club no matter what they do inside the club, Blows, to Basket work needs new blood or at sometime the club will go under, which after years and year of building the club up would be a great same.

This Week In Our Club

This week we learned two new dances and had a revival night just to  going over some of the dances we have done recently such as Salt & Lime | Blue Berry Chill | that one we haven't done for some time and you do have to sort your feet out. Another recent dance is No Honk Tonk, is quick but I like it now, along with, Mile Shy of Paradise, and Together ForeverThe Boat To Liverpool plus many many more I will put Links to all these dance.

Welcome Back With New dance And Some Old Ones Too.

Welcome Back With New dance
And Some Old Ones Too.

Welcome back to Country Roots Line Dance Club, I have returned to the club after 3 weeks off, and have missed a few dances which is a problem when ever you have time off from your dance club. New dance are being taught all the time. so when we go back we have a steep learning curve. but what can we do we need holidays or if you are ill we do the best we can.

The First dance is an old one called A DIFFERENT KIND OF MAN a video doesn't exist and I can only find this one link to the dance steps. ( Dance Sheet ) if you look for yourself be careful there is another dance same name but different choreograph. I like the music the dance is a bit trick but most dance are until you know the steps.

The other dance is called Mile Shy Of Paradise nice dance nice music  not much more to say about it really we will see if it catches on in the live events and social evenings  Dance Sheet

The other new dance was NO HONKY TONK the dance looks quicker than it is, and not much to the dance we have done the dance a few times now and I like it a lot. Dance Sheet

On Wednesday we have a mini review afternoon which is always useful, Margaret went over Salt & Lime, and many more here a just a few of them | A Boat to Liverpool | Come As You Are | Games People Play

The Beginners Class

The Beginner's class has gone from strength to strength more and more member are joining every week, I have started go to beginners class because it help to have people in the class that know the dances. and it helps you to go back to basics. I have raised this subject before even if a dance is 20 years old, if a member hasn't seen the dance before it is a new dance and has to be learned and we all will carry on learning for as long as we are dancing.

The Clothes We Once Wore

The Clothes We Once Wore

This is an interesting subject in its own way, do you remember going to Events with all the paraphernalia, Boots, Shirt, Hat, and some people went much further than that. I can remember I was working for BT at the Easts of England Country Festival  I have a YouTube clip that can show you better that I can write and explain what I saw. Click Here I met Jed Ford he was really nice man, he give me and the other BT Engineer an access all area passes for the event. The reason I show the clip is to highlight the change in what people wear now days. The last three big events I went to the most dressing up I saw were people wearing hats, You the same people who really made an effort, a man and his partner in the full get up doing Partner Dances you might known who I mean they are always at these events. But the question is why has it changed is it the style of music, has pop music stopped the Country Western side of line dancing, and there for all the cowboy clothes seem inappropriate in the modern age. When I dress up and dance I got so hot with the hat, check shirt jeans I was melting.
I would like to have your views on this subject. Either Comment on the Blog or go to our Facebook Page Country Roots Line Dance Club
