Just Because A Dance Is Old?

Just Because A Dance Is Old?

Hello the headline of this weeks blog, just because a dance it's an old doesn't mean it's past the use by date. For the last couple of weeks Country Roots Rhyl have been look at the  old dances, some from the late 90's and  2000's, and some of these are really nice dances. So I think it's time we at on Country Roots Blog did some recycling with these older dances. The improver's have learnt You Little Bluff Robbie McGowan Hickie 2010 that's five years ago,I remember learning that when it was new, it's still a nice dance. going back further in time  Dangerous Curves  click here if you can't remember how it goes  We have been learning Nimby , Open Arms uploaded to you 2009, New Dreams , In-Vince-ible, 2003 a really nice dances. (see these dances below.) The point is they are really good dances and they get left behind and it's a shame that it's only when we have review nights they ever see the light of day.

A Change Of Heart

A Change Of Heart.

Over two years ago when I started the website one of the first things I wrote about was the fact that when dancing to live music is not the same as doing the dance in class. And to a point that is still the case. But I was wrong because the joy of live music is finding a dance that would fix the song the singer was doing on stage. I have be to several events lately and have realised that you can do a well know dance to a unknown song it maybe a little faster or slower, and I have realised that is where the skill come in.Well that's enough humble pie I'm full, so we will get on to the dances.

The Beginner's Class

The Beginners are still leaning Vertical Expression. the other dances in this section are find most of them know the dances reasonable well now. But as I said last week even an old dance to a beginner is a new dance. Here are some of their dances.

After a lot of searching I have found a demo of the Butterfly Waltz it's not in English but the steps are there so it really doesn't matter.

I have put two Waltz Across Texas because the first one gives you a long walk-through and the other one in a good demo.

Vertical Expression | Memphis Love | Tush Push | Haunted HeartCheap Talk | Waltz Across Texas | Shadowlands |Back And Forth | Sea Cruise | Piano Man | Something In The Water | Lonesome Me | Butterfly Waltz

The Advance Class

In the Advance Class we did a new dance called Skip The Line it a nice dance, one of those where you heel hook step out ,touch kick back. I don't normally I don't like those type of dances but this is nice the dance it fits the beat of the music. See that walk through and many others besides.

| Skip The Line | South Australia Walk With Me | Rock &Roll | There's The Door!| Heavenly Cha | Hard Work | Mile Shy Of ParadiseMorning Sun And Memories | Rock & Roll King | Slat & Lime | New Shade Of Blue | Modern Romance | One More Day |Till It's Gone | Eternal Secret  | Homegrown |

CHERNOBYL CHILDREN'S LIFELINE NORTH WALES

LINE DANCE FUNDRAISER - 10TH APRIL - 7.30PM
MASONIC HALL, MELIDEN LL19 8LA How this annual line dance began! Way back in 2003 I asked Margaret if she would help me to raise the money needed to bring two little girls from Belarus here to Prestatyn in North Wales.
When Margaret met the children and learned more of their story she decided that she wanted to do a fund-raising event each year. She thought that an annual line dance for the charity was the ideal answer to achieve her goal of bringing 2 children over for a month every year. The line dancing club, Country Roots, started by Margaret and her late husband Brian were all in favour of helping and so their story began.
Since those first two little girls Margaret and Country Roots have held their annual fundraising dance and also several other sponsored line dances. With all their hard work and dedication they have raised over £13,000, this means that 22 children from Belarus and now Northern Ukraine, have benefited by staying here in North Wales for four weeks each year since 2003.
Come and join us for a great evening there will be” taster” sessions for anyone willing to give it a go
If you do join in they promise not to be too hard on you !!!
And for those of you who might need a bit of Dutch courage there is a bar at the Masonic Hall.

 BEGINNER'S CLASS

The Beginners class learned a new dance at least it was for them call Haunted Heart I know it an old dance for the old hands but for the beginners that have only been dancing for three to four months it's new.
After a lot of searching I have found a demo of the Butterfly Waltz it's not in English but the steps are there so it really doesn't matter.

I have put two Waltz Across Texas because the first one gives you a long walk-through and the other one in a good demo.

| Haunted Heart Cheap Talk | Fly Like A Dove  | Waltz Across Texas | Shadowlands |Back And Forth | Sea Cruise | Piano Man | Something In The Water | Lonesome Me | Butterfly Waltz |
