Hello And Welcome New Dances For All.

Hello And  Welcome New Dances For All.

Hello one and all welcome to another blog on Country Roots. There was new dances for all levels this week some were OK  and some well maybe not.
Some of the dances flowed really nicely and some were less flow and more stick in the mud, but that is what dancing is about, a dance I might not like someone else thinks it's great. So here are the new dances and you can make your own mind up.

                          Dances From 6.00PM Until 7.30
The class had been learning Knee Deep before the break. When playing Real Good Way turn the sound down as it's not English just do the steps this is the only version I can find. Another dance doing the rounds is Triple Mix it's not a hard dance music by
Nathan Carter, but I'm sure other music would fit.

Dances From 7.30 PM Until 10.00PM

The was two new dances this week in this part of the class Big Blue Tree, and Boiling Point big blue tree is a nice dance that flows well and the music is fun. Boiling Point will be OK when we know the steps like any new dance.

More Back To The Future

More Back To The Future

Hello once again in this week’s blog we are looking back at some of the older dances. Dances like Two Bottle Of Beer, it was released 2005, there isn't a video to this dance so I have made a link to the dance sheet. In terms of line dances, ten years is a long time ago. If you look at the amounts of new dances, that are released every week. The last time I checked about 40 new dances are put out every week, not all of them see the light of day, and some don't last very long even if they are spotted. But you do get some dances that stay the distances, and become classics such as Cowboy Charleston, Cowgirl Twist, Islands in the Streams, Vertical Expressions, and so on. The older dances were helped to become established because there weren't as many dances being released in a week as there are now. Which in one way was good, because you got to know the dances really well? Now with so many dances flooding the Internet every week, dances come and go before you really have time to learn them properly. I'm not staying new dances can't stand the test of time and still be remembered in ten years from now. I am staying I think it will be much harder for any dance to become a classic in the new age of line dancing.

           The Improver's Class

The class had a revision night going over the recent dances they have learned

The class leaned a new dance last night as well as Two Bottles Of Beer ( see link above) which most of the members either hadn't done or couldn't remember, the new dance was Win, Lose or Draw.          Choreographer: Karl-Harry Winson (UK) April 2015, Is a nice dance it flows really well when we know it well enough it has a nice ending to the dance.

Social Night At Country Roots

Hello fellow members  Country Roots will hold a social night on the 27th of June. This will be held at the our community centre. This should be a really good night, the starting time is 7.00pm till 10.30pm. Due to the Bank Holidays and the centre being closed it has been a quite time. How ever that changed on Monday Night. The beginners when over Buffalo Tails with is very directional but they're get better. we also walked through some of the recent they have learnt such as Places  Vertical Expression
Since starting the beginners class they have improved really well ,soon we will have to call them Improver's not beginners The Advance class were taught two new dances the first was called Truck Stop, the second was called Love Me Hate Me and  we also walked through Girl Crush. So it was a busy night all round really.

The music to the two new dances are really nice, the dances will come like all new dances, it takes a while to really know the steps. Some of the other dance we did were  Skip The Line I like the beat in this dance it really strong and keeps you in time. Another were Over Getting Over but still by a long way me favourite dance a the moment is One More Day it was a bit tricky to learn, but once you know the steps it's a beautiful dance.

New Dances For All

New Dances For All

Good morning this is a relatively short blog. This is all about the new dances both Classes did last night. The Beginner's class learnt 2 new dances this is the first time they have learnt two dances and reviewed another in in one night and they coped well. The first of their new dances was  called Places which isn't hard for Intermediate or advanced dancers, but for beginners it was a good challenge, they coped well.
Next  they reviewed  Red Molly. I think these is a nice little dance. Again to the more experience dancer it's not to challenge but for a beginner not so easy. But this it is line Dancing. We all learn new dances all the time.
The third dance was the hardest  mainly because it's directional the dance is called Buffalo Tales. this did cause some problems. But the more times they do the dance the better the dance will come. See the walk-through below.

Beginners Class

The Advanced Class

The beginners weren't the only class that was work really hard, the advance class also had three new dances. The first was Over Getting Over A nice dance I love the song, it's my type of music.
The second new dance was Skip The Line (we actually did this last week but no one remember it.) This week it went better. Some weeks are like that. This is one of those dances, side touch heel hook type dance. the music it nice not sure of the dance.
The last dance we did was by far the hardest dance we have done in a while. The dance is called Girl Crush. I will put the first section of the script so you can see what I mean.
[1 – 8] Fwd L-R-L with sweeps, R rock, ½ turn R, ¾ turn R with hitch R, sway R-L, R cross, ½ turn R stepping L-R
1 2 3Step forward L as you sweep R (1), step forward R as you sweep L (2), step forward L as you sweep R (3) 12.00
4 & a Rock forward R (4), recover weight L (&), make ½ turn right stepping forward R (a) 6.00
5Step forward L and begin to make a ¾ turn right on ball of L as you hitch R knee (5) 3.00
6 7Complete ¾ turn right as you step R to right side swaying upper body to right (6), transfer weight to L as you sway upper body left (7) 3.00
8 & a Cross R over L (8), make ¼ turn right stepping back L (&), make ¼ turn right stepping R to right side (a) 9.00

All the way through the step sheet there is the “a” count. This is an extra  step because the way the music is (6/8 time) You have to get 6 counts into four beats of music. When you go to the walk-through (follow the link) you will see what I mean.
This is as really nice dance to a good lovely song and very cleverly choreographed
