Back To Work

Back To Work

Hello Country Roots are back. we have had a break over Easter but now we were back to work. I think everyone was a bit ring rusty. but by the end of the night we all have our dancing heads in gear. The beginners learnt a new dance ( well I say new) Vertical Expression but to them I was new. And doing the research for this blog there are lots of versions

There isn't a walk through so I have slowed down version of the dance with the steps in writing above. I will embed the video to help the beginner's
The Advance Class did a new dance called  South Australia it went down like a lead balloon the song is by Nathan Carter the song gets quicker and quicker to the point you can't move your feet quickly enough. I don't know if it will catch on , time will tell. see video below.

The beginners Class

After a lot of searching I have found a demo of the Butterfly Waltz it's not in English but the steps are there so it really doesn't matter.

I have put two Waltz Across Texas because the first one gives you a long walk-through and the other one in a good demo.

Vertical Expression | Memphis Love | Tush Push | Haunted HeartCheap Talk | Fly Like A Dove  | Waltz Across Texas | Shadowlands |Back And Forth | Sea Cruise | Piano Man | Something In The Water | Lonesome Me | Butterfly Waltz

when you click on a title of the page in will open on that page this one says Welcome to another Country Roots Blog.

The other way to find a dance is to scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the name of the dance or link that you need.I hope this helps people find what they need I will also make a video showing you have it works in more depth soon.

Happy New Year Were Are Back.

Happy New Year Were Are Back.

Well another year has started and there are lots of new dances to learn when you have a two week break if makes you realise how much you miss line dancing when the club is closed for the Christmas holidays. But as I say we are back. And there is some exciting news Country Roots W.D.C to give it the full title will 20 years old in September so we are going to have a party with live music, I will make a power Point prestation from all the pictures that the members has amassed over the twenty year. and as the band is playing the pictures will be scrolling all night long.

Sad Loss

One of our members Rita Hulley lost her husband Peter after an Illness you can see the time of the service on the Country Roots Line Dance face book page.

The Beginners Class

Well the beginner started of nice and easy just going over some of the dances they started with. and then some of the harder dance they had learned at the end of 2014 dances like Shadowlands, and Sea Cruise, and Back and Forth. But last night they learned another dance called Baby Kiss this is something different because this dance has Chesterton's toe heel stomps back hitches the lot all in one dance and if you are a beginner the dance will be very challenging see links to the dances below.

Baby Kiss | Shadowlands | Back and Forth | Cowboy strut | How long |Lamtarra Rumba |
You can see many more dances by go to the top of this page and clicking on the right hand side under the dates and months of previous blogs when a blog is created it stay on the website for ever.

The Experienced Class Members

As with the beginners this week was all about remembering the dances from last year and we did really well over all. We also learned two new dances Once In A Lifetime is a nice dance it has a nice flow to it once you learn the step. the other dance is an old dance called Patient Heart it's about 12 years old and really quick, I like the music to this dance but the is a part where you have to kick-ball change and turn at the same time well I did struggle with that but I wasn't a lone.

The first Patient Heart  is music       This is a walk-through not in English but works.

Patient Heart | Once in a lifetime | They Call Me The Breeze | Morning Sun Memories | Mile Shy Of Paradise

Just Be Careful

This picture shows just how difficult running a website is and how easy you can make a mistake look how many dances here have the same name the choreographer could name the dance anything why the same as all the rest.

Well once again I hope you find the blog interesting please go to country Roots Line Dance Club on facebook and leave feedback or it gets lonely in cyber-land on my own.

Beginners Review Night

This is a really sad occasion

Vera Williams a long time member of Country Roots has pass away and it is a real shame ,she was a lovely lady always had a smile even when she wasn't well.

 Beginners Review Night

Weather you are an old hand at Line-dancing or a beginner you need nights where you just over the dances you have done. And this is what we did in the beginners class. we  have had  4 new people started in the last two weeks. so a walk-though will help them get started because to start line-dancing without any prior knowledge is hard.  Hear are some of the dances they did.

The Advance Class

The class did two new dances last night  along with a lot of our recent dances, the new dances were That's just me, nice dance when you know the steps it will work well (see Bellow) the other dance is called champagne, I think it's fair to say most people struggled with this last night but it is like any dance that is a bit tricky the more time we do the dance the better it will be, again  see below for a video walk-through. Other recent dances are They Call Me The Breeze  Places I've Been they ist'n a demo of this dance. Salt & Lime

Remember to have fun when dancing

Time For A Change?

Time For A Change?

Has you can see I have changed to look of our blog! I think the design has a clean look to it, but all the content is still there. sometime change is a good thing, Line dancing has changed over the years and the way we can assess the information about line dancing has changed, we can now look at You Tube, Goggle a dance script, look on dedicated blogs like this one.
The dances themselves have change, more pop music is set to line dancing, and some of it is Ok and if line dancing is to survive we need young people to get involved, and if they like pop music they might like some of the more country tracks as well. So if you can give me so feedback on the new colours or if you have any suggestion   Please let me know either by Facebook @ Country Roots Line Dance Club or email countryrootslinedance@gmail.com.
