Some Old Dance Are Great

Some Old Dance Are Great

As I said in the heading some of the older dances are really good I think there is a myth that the older dance aren't as good as new dances, but I don't think that is always the case, Lately Country Roots Rhyl has been revisiting older dances like Tumbling Rush, Two Bottles Of Beer, In-Vince-ible, on Monday night the class went over Bittersweet Memory, all these dances are really nice to dance, so lets not write these dances off just because their knee might be knocking, as someone remarked to me "Messed Up In Memphis is a dance that will be played at live venues for ever because of the solo guitar riffs in that song, the musicans can show case they skills." And now to things in we did in class

We Do Make A Difference

This is where we at Country Roots can help other people, learn new dances weather they are old or new. The first picture is a screen grab as I was look on you tube for the dance In-Vince- ible, and Country Roots is rated third from the top of the page in terms of intresting items.

This came up in a general search on you tube, the next picture is again a screen grab of a video we made in Country Roots  Rhyl to help our beginners last year, and now it has been viewed over 6000 times which I think is a good result.

The Advanced Class

The Advanced class are still revisiting the older dances. But this is a new dance called Open The Box. This will be taught to the Improver's class eventually this is a dance 48 count Beginners /Improver dances by Gaye Teather that would fit a lot of live songs. As yet there isn't any videos out  but I don't think it will be long before one is out. I have made a link to the dance sheet.

I Have A Question?

I Have A Question?

The question is how many dances can you do without having a walk-through it's more than you think it is. I found this out the last time Country Roots Rhyl had a social night. We did dances for 2 year maybe longer and if at the time you like the dance it does stay in the memory banks. Even if it takes 2 walls to sort your feet out. I returned to Line Dancing 6 years ago and I couldn't tell you how many I could do be until I heard the music and then work out the step. of our social night I only sit out a few time so that was pretty good, But Dance Instructors they have a skill to remember dances from 10, or 20 years ago, which is really amazing.

The Beginners Class

The Beginners Class is the same as last week to make sure they understands the new dances they are doing.

Cowboy Charleston | How Long | Butterfly Waltz | Cowboy Strut | Western Barn Dance | Baby Kisses | Piano Man | Ribbon Of Highway

Advance Class

The Advance Class have also been doing the same dances as last week mainly because we have had a lot of new dances and we just need some more practice We have got one new dance called New Shade Of Blue By Yvonne Anderson nice dance it flows really nicely.

Starting From Scratch

Starting From Scratch

We had three new beginners started on Monday night and it just reinforces the fact that when you start out learning how to line dance you will find it really hard people that have line dance for a long time take in for granted that the steps are the same they're just in a different order so when you get the step in the right order you have the dance beat. When you are an absolute beginner you have to learn the steps and then the dance. much much harder and we all tend to forget this when a beginner start in class.  This is why I and other members of class do our best to point the right way show them step show them not to take big steps which is and common thing when learning, but evenully they do improve and three months in they will be much better.

Beginners Class

Because we had some new beginners in class we went back to basics Cowboy Charleston  Elvira , Ribbon of highway and alike so here are just a few of the dance  Charleston The dance you see here the music may be different but the step are the same.

Cowboy Charleston | How Long | Waltz Mexican Wind | Cowboy Strut | Western Barn Dance | Baby Kisses | Piano Man | Ribbon Of Highway

Advances Class

We did a new dance on Monday night Rock & Roll King. Nice dance lovely rock and roll music we also had another go at Hard Work with a better result this time I think the more we did it the better it will be.

Happy New Year Were Are Back.

Happy New Year Were Are Back.

Well another year has started and there are lots of new dances to learn when you have a two week break if makes you realise how much you miss line dancing when the club is closed for the Christmas holidays. But as I say we are back. And there is some exciting news Country Roots W.D.C to give it the full title will 20 years old in September so we are going to have a party with live music, I will make a power Point prestation from all the pictures that the members has amassed over the twenty year. and as the band is playing the pictures will be scrolling all night long.

Sad Loss

One of our members Rita Hulley lost her husband Peter after an Illness you can see the time of the service on the Country Roots Line Dance face book page.

The Beginners Class

Well the beginner started of nice and easy just going over some of the dances they started with. and then some of the harder dance they had learned at the end of 2014 dances like Shadowlands, and Sea Cruise, and Back and Forth. But last night they learned another dance called Baby Kiss this is something different because this dance has Chesterton's toe heel stomps back hitches the lot all in one dance and if you are a beginner the dance will be very challenging see links to the dances below.

Baby Kiss | Shadowlands | Back and Forth | Cowboy strut | How long |Lamtarra Rumba |
You can see many more dances by go to the top of this page and clicking on the right hand side under the dates and months of previous blogs when a blog is created it stay on the website for ever.

The Experienced Class Members

As with the beginners this week was all about remembering the dances from last year and we did really well over all. We also learned two new dances Once In A Lifetime is a nice dance it has a nice flow to it once you learn the step. the other dance is an old dance called Patient Heart it's about 12 years old and really quick, I like the music to this dance but the is a part where you have to kick-ball change and turn at the same time well I did struggle with that but I wasn't a lone.

The first Patient Heart  is music       This is a walk-through not in English but works.

Patient Heart | Once in a lifetime | They Call Me The Breeze | Morning Sun Memories | Mile Shy Of Paradise

Just Be Careful

This picture shows just how difficult running a website is and how easy you can make a mistake look how many dances here have the same name the choreographer could name the dance anything why the same as all the rest.

Well once again I hope you find the blog interesting please go to country Roots Line Dance Club on facebook and leave feedback or it gets lonely in cyber-land on my own.

Line Dancing Is Not The Easiest thing To Do?

Line Dancing Is Not  The Easiest thing To Do?

Country Roots has had a lot of new beginners starting this week and I reminded me of the time I started I went to a Line Dance venue called Fort San Antonio Great Birchwood,Country Park, Lytham Road. I thought it looked great So I came home went to Margaret Gough's class, and my god did I struggle I could believe how hard it was to get your feet and legs to do the steps in time to the music. But I worked at it at home and started going three times a week and you get better, you start to relax when dancing, take smaller steps all these things help and eventually you find you can do the dances and you learn new dances more easier than you could before.

 Beginners Class

Well as I said new people started so we went back to basics for half the lesson so I have found so long walk-through's for the new people to try at home. But we also had a new dance for the improver's called Back and Forth (click all links for dance sheets) nice little dance just enough to stretch them see all dances below. | Smokey Places | Cowgirl Twist | Cowboy Charston | How Long | Ribbon of Highway |

The Advance Class

The class has had some Tricky dance the last few weeks and in class last night ( Monday) we had another not so easy dance called Morning Sun and Memories I Think  I think it will alright when we are comfortable with the steps (Click links for Dance Sheets) other recent dances are That's Just Me and Champagne these two dances are coming easier now as they always do. see dances below.

We also did some of the older dance | Come as you are | Young Blood | This Is Me | and many others which are in earlier blogs just scroll back through the 64 other blog pages there is lots to see.
