When Are Old Dances New Dances

When Are Old Dances New Dances
The thought came to me last night when we were doing dances from 18 to 20 years old, and while the veterans of the line dancing club remembered them after a while, spare a thought for the other people that have been dancing for about 5 years. I have done some of the older dances, but the ones we did last night I have never heard of, I and other members hadn't even heard the music before so to us they were all new dances. You can a have good dance live on for years, as new people come into line dancing they start with the older beginners dances, like Ribbon of highway, Cowgirl Twist, cowboy charleston may be some newer beginner dances, but the point is we all have to learn the dances and just because the dance is 18 years old is doesn't mean there not any good, a dance I hadn't heard of until last year was T Bone Shuffle I'm not when it came out but I heard this music and people started to dance to the music, I asked someone about the dance and I told told it's be out for ages but to me I had to learn that dance on that night as something completely new and why if you go to a line dance club there is always something you can learn.

Our International Blog

Our International Blog

Country Roots Line Dance Blog has been in existence since 11th of July 2013 and we have a truly international web site the first picture you see are the statistics for our web site for the month things such as how many page reviews who looked at them and where from the results are quiet amazing in the short amount of time we have been live on the internet.

As you can see people from all over Europe, North America the United States, but also Indonesia. Remember this is just 0ne month.

The next pictures you will see is how many people have look at our web site since we started it.
We have had over  three thousand three hundred page reviews so you see we are make a diffrence and people are taking notice of what we are doing.

Going For A Night Out

Some of our members went for a Saturday night at Connah’s Quay. Artist was  Nigel Slater There were a few problems with the sound system, but that was soon sorted and a good night was had by all.
Good to see so many supporting Alf Roberts daughter  Heather Berry as she has recently lost her father to a sudden illness .This are some of the picture they took.

                                                                                                                                               Monday Dance night

On monday we did two new dances both beginner dances one I really liked call Baby Kisses the other one was called Fall In Love I'm not sure about that one but it might grow on me? any way the links are below.

I am always surprised when we go over older dances on review nights or like last night just playing the dances we haven't done for a while because, and you might not remember the dance at the start but you do remember the dance before the end, and this is true for hundreds of dances. But Margaret Gough the Dance instructor and owner much have stored thousands of dances in her head. Here are some of the other dances we did.

Hotel Angel | Cha Lay Low | Dixie Road | Blue Blue Day | Come As You Are | One Shot | Joyride | Wingman | and many other too many to mention them all well that's all for this blog I hope it has been interesting for you.

Marmite Dances

Marmite Dances

Hands up how many of us have dances dance's that you don't really like, I called them Marmite Dances. but still we do them why? I don't know may  be you think it will grow on you , and sometimes it does. And sometimes the dance never grows on you and you just go through the motions for three minutes and then move on.

I think this latest Marmite dance is Fly High by  Maggie Gallagher I truely don't know if I like this or not? the dance does flow naturally like That's where I'll Be   or A little Bit Gypsy for instance, but there is something I think I  like if I dance it enough times I Country Roots other people are not sure either, but time will tell.

The Problems of Writing a blog ?

The Problems of Writing a blog?

I used the headline for this blog because I have source the internet for the latest dances we are doing and I must say I like most them ,which help when you like the music the dance stays in your head easier. but back to why I used that headline, I when on Copperknob looking for the dances sheet for Come As You Are and the picture tells its on story
Why have so many dances with the same name as the Webmaster for  Country Roots it's important to publish the correct dance sheet for the dance we do so when they are 5 dances with the same name it just make my task a little bit harder.

This week we have some lovely dances so I'll start at the top Blue Blue Day an easy dance with a happy tune

Come As You are  I love this music the base is strong the beat goes really nicely to the dance this dance could be around for a while.

The dance Hard To Be A Hippie is just a run of the mill Beginner/ Improver dance personally I think this will disappear soon and only remembered rarely but just for you here it is.

As Always please leave feedback on Facebook Country Roots I hope you enjoy this blog

New Dances

Some New Dances

I have not been to the meetings for a few weeks for one reason or another, but have come back this week and I have miss walk-throughs of a lot of new dances. And this got me thinking why do we needs so many dances? A lot of new dances either get one airing when first released but then just fade away or never see the light of day. should there be a panel that views new dances and rate them , I know that some people will be screaming at their screens about now, which is OK this blog is about putting your views across. either on the comments panel, or on  Facebook Country Roots Line Dance Club. I have found a really good example why there should be a panel to judge the dances, please click the link CLICK HERE  and judge for yourselves.

The picture you are looking at is from Yepee line dance site all the dances you see were released this month and there was 50 to 60 more on the web site.
You can not possible learn all of them, and if you have clicked the link I doubt if you would want to?

Now to the new dances we have done

Dixie Rd
Dance Sheet
Dixie Rd , nice dance it's got the old western line dance feel to it.

I love the music to this dance it's a real bouncy tune which is reflected in the dance there is one part where you do bounce, for me the dance goes a little bit astray because right at the end of the 32 count sequence you have to step lock 3 times while turning half a turn, it's look and feels like the choreographer ran out of ideas right a the end , but that's just my thoughts.

Through The Eyes Of A Child
Dance Sheet
We only touched on this dance late last night Margaret will walk this through on Wednesday I like the music which always helps, there are some dances I can't take to because I don't like the music.

Some of the other dance we did were Shoebox , Joyride, Boys of summer, No Man's Land, and many more(see Labels at the bottom of the page to find links)

Happy New Year

Happy New Year

Well Country Roots is back after the Christmas break it seems along time since we have the party and last dance session. The new year starts off  another round of new dances to learn, and old ones to remember, that's not always easy. We came back on Monday the 6 of January and as usual the music starts your mind is complete blank, but as you get into the dance so your linedance memory is switched on again.
As well as doing the old standards we have learned two new dances this week
,the first is called Joyride I love the song I could listen to stuff like this all day long. The dances does flow and when you are confident with the steps I think the dance will be really nice. ( see link below for dance)
The  other dance is called Wingman, I won't lie to you this dance is a bit quirky the tempo is strange and there are some odd steps but once have got the tempo in your head its not bad, this will be one of those dances you either love or hate I don't think there is a halfway will this dance.

Our Last Night Before Christmas Plus the quizz

This Was Our Last Night Before Christmas

We had our last night of dancing until after the holidays. The pictures show what a good time we had. We had a lucky dip approach to the dances where  every dance had a number and people picked a number out of a hat, and the dances ranged for new dances to 20 years ago.

These pictures include the members from Monday night, and the members from the Thursday morning class.

I was clearing out some of my old dance sheets
